Donsuki Townhouse Salon
Suki Duggan and her elegant Donsuki Townhouse Salon are regularly in the news as the "go to" place in Manhattan for great-shaped cuts, gorgeous haircolor, skin/spa care services and quality high-performance hair care/styling products that offer the ultimate in healthy, shiny hair.
Here's just some of the beauty buzz in print and on-line that highlights what Suki and her professional salon design team are all about!

London Sunday Times
"Suki Duggan, owner of DonSuki’s hair salon on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, said she had seen an influx of men ducking into the salon this week. Some of her regulars were getting treatments they hadn’t previously, including one called ‘blending’ which tones down grey hairs, to 'take ten years off the face.'
"Men are frightened. People are getting laid off, and few places are hiring senior workers because of the high pay they demand. These older men have to appear fresh and valuable because there is no room for tired and stale employees in this economy.'"

(201) The Best of Bergen
Cutting Edge, Crowning Glory
How did a foreign-born teenager segue from a career as an aspiring professional violinist at Juilliard to one of the pre-eminent forces in the competitive world of Manhattan hair and beauty salons? Hint: She's got rhythm.
After the loss of her parents (Korean mother, French father), Suki Duggan moved to the U.S. from Paris to study the violin. At 16, she took a summer job as a shampooer in New York's famed Ciandre Salon. "The boss was fond of me," she recalls. "He thought I was cute, so before my vacation ended, I got a chair and became a hairdresser."

Unwind AND 'Shape Up Your Chic'
DonSuki’s Townhouse Does Both
Sitting in the hair salon, at the mercy of the scissor-holder, surrendering all the control you once had over each one of the millions of hairs on your head can be daunting. When your hairdresser is all-too-familiar with you, the fear lessens. But if you're sitting in someone's chair for the first time, it's normal to wonder whether the outcome will be a crisp Jenny McCarthy cut, or a baldly botched Britney. You won't feel like that the first, second or 100th time at the DonSuki hair salon.
This Upper East Side hair cutting haven takes advantage of a four-story townhouse to give clients the ultimate feeling of comfort as they enter for their new doo. Rather than feeling stuffy, pretentious or intimidating, DonSuki's salon is like a reassuring getaway that will make you want to curl up with a good mag or book and a cup of hot cocoa while the stylist works his or her magic.

Beauty Industry Professionals Collaborate on New Book With International Reach and Inspiration
Respected beauty industry experts and entrepreneurs Suki Duggan and Sharon Esche, who pens the "LA to La Jolla" column for Beauty Fashion, are collaborating on an inspiring new book for general readers that shares Suki's American dream story about making it on Madison Avenue.
Titled SUKI: The Beauty Of Success, this book takes us behind the scenes of the glitz and glamour of this Manhattan trendsetter, a world away from more humble beginnings as a child in 1960s Korea. After arriving in New York City in the late 70s as a wide-eyed violinist studying at Juilliard, Suki's career took a fortuitous turn when she accepted a day job as a hair stylist's assistant to the legendary Andre of Cinandre and was thrown headlong into the world of beauty and fashion.

Crain's New York Business
Not everyone is a fan of the in-office movement. Frequent interruptions make it a challenge to provide high-quality care, says Suki Duggan, who owns Donsuki Townhouse Salon, a full-service salon and spa on the Upper East Side.
"There are a lot of distractions at the office," she says. "The phone is always ringing, or clients are jumping up and in the middle of their massage answering e-mails."
The biggest problem for top-tier sophisticates looking for top results? The facial.
"Our female clients ask us to come at 2 p.m., but then they've got a meeting at 4 and can't put on makeup because their pores are open, or their hair now is greasy and flat," Ms. Duggan says.

"'Combless Cuts': Smart, pretty new shapes that put your hair on autopilot."
Suki Duggan, of New York's Donsuki Salon, knows how valuable time is to her clients. In fact, she's used to doing haircuts around cell phones, having the women switch ears as she moves from one side to the other. Duggan understands that women want fast, easy hair, but she also respects that they do not necessarily want to go to supershort. To please everyone, she has invented the no-shape shape. These cuts appear carefree, but they are meticulously planned to fall into place every day.

"Blow-Out Bliss:"
If the female owner of an uptown salon can't blow-dry her own hair, neither should you. "It's too hard. You're using two hands to coordinate the brush and the dryer," explains Suki, owner of Donsuki Salon in Manhattan. "You're looking into a mirror where everything is reversed." (She gets her long dark hair blown out every other day by anyone in the shop who has a spare hand).

"Suki Says: 'Make sure you consult with your hair designer to customize a look that works for you!'"
Take Note:
*Those with long, narrow faces should add side-swept bangs to add fullness to the face.
*Women with round faces should aim for a below-the-chin length and long layers to avoid adding additional width.
*Women with square shaped faces will find that long, soft layers will soften hard jaw lines and add femininity to their look.

Color & Style.
The Color Scene: "The inside scoop on what's happening in haircolor all across the country."
"Blondes will continue to make waves, but they'll be more reddish and strawberry blonde. Also, red-on-red will be big. Highlights used to be chunky, but no more; now, they're far more natural.
In our salon, blonde is the most popular color. We're doing a lot of highlights, honey-blondes, and sunshine blondes. Women don't want double-processed blonding –they're in a hurry, and want their hair colored in the shortest amount of time possible. Baliage is another big trend here always in demand. Lots of women go with light brown or blonde highlights, taking it two shades lighter than their own color to cover the gray and keep things looking natural."
Color Trendsetters: Heather Locklear, Niki Taylor, Susan Sarandon.
